The Maury Show

Former president, Joe Sciortino, hooked us up with a 55 person party bus to and from the Maury Show, as well as food when we were there and a private tour of the studio after the showing. It should be airing some time in November so keep an eye out for us.

Nu Class Pinning

The Delta Chi Fraternity is proud to announce the pinning of five new associate members. We are excited to see the Nu class work through the associate member process and eventually become full members of the Delta Chi Cortland Chapter. Congratulations to all the new associate members... September 11th Memorial & Habitat for Humanity

On the weekend of September 11^th, 2011 while many were honoring the ten year anniversary of one of the most tragic acts of terrorism seen around the world, the brothers of Delta Chi thought it would be a symbolic time to give back to the community. On Saturday September 10^th, members of the Delta Chi Fraternity teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to help build a house on Clinton Avenue. On this day, Delta Chi helped construct walls, insulate the house, and put up half of the supports for the roof. As the day was coming to an end the mayor of Cortland, Susan Feiszli, stopped by the work site and took notice of the Delta Chi brothers working to build a house for a less fortunate family. She thought it was a great gesture and asked if the brothers could help set up a 9/11 memorial the very next day. Honored by the offer, the brothers gratefully accepted. The next day, even more members of the Delta Chi fraternity showed up to help set up a tent, chairs and tables for the towns people to sit at. After the brothers set everything up, many chose to stay and watch the ceremony where all the men and women who have served in the line of duty were honored for their bravery. The brothers of Delta Chi were offered to be paid for their work, but instead, the brothers asked if a check could be written out to their philanthropy, The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. The mayor was thrilled with this idea and gladly obliged. This is what the mayor of Cortland, Susan Feiszle had to say about the weekend. “This is a picture of the fraternity [members] I met while working at the new Habitat for Humanity House last Saturday.  They helped set up and take down the tent and chairs for the 9/11 event at Court House Park yesterday. In lieu of payment, they asked that a donation be given the Jimmy V Cancer [Foundation]”.  Michael McGovern, President of Delta Chi, had this to say about the mayor and events of the weekend, “I was very happy when the mayor told us that she would gladly write a check to the Jimmy V Foundation. We work very hard to try and donate as much money as we can to this great cause. This weekend didn’t seem like work to the brothers because we all knew that what we were doing would benefit the community greatly.”  The men of Delta Chi hope to continue helping the community become a better place, but also hope to continue to raise money for the Jimmy V. Foundation.
