Recently five brothers from the Cortland chapter, that volunteered to attend the Regional Leadership Conference for the seventh region of Delta Chi, became educated on numerous topics that can help better their chapter. Mike McGovern, Ben Herman, Matt Simons, Matt Clark and Matthew Scheckton, or the FAB FIVE as many call them; all decided it was their responsibility to represent their chapter at this conference. Having two NIB’s (newly initiated brothers) attend this event is a great thing, that the still young, and ambitious chapter should be appreciative of, however the dedication of the elder brothers should also be seen as great. During the course of a weekend these brothers were taught many values and ways to better their chapter in some aspects and also start certain aspects in a new direction. The FAB FIVE had a good time meeting many brothers from chapters across the region and were fortunate enough to sit down with them, not just the conductors of the conference, and learn from the successful chapters they run are doing. It was not just an eye opener at times but a giving experience also. The FAB FIVE gave the other brothers thoughts on how to further their chapters. They looked at it not just from the local level but from the national level. It can be hard for some to do that until attending such a conference, which in the future hopefully all brothers will have the chance to do. It was overall a great experience that opened eyes and pushed individuals into positions to be great leaders while also making great leaders, even better ones.
